Your Crepe Escape : Flint Crepe Company

The Flint Crepe Company began serving crepes and coffee to the Flint community in 2009. At first, it was nothing more than a mobile crepe cart at the Flint Farmers’ Market and around town. On November 11, 2011, we opened our current storefront on Saginaw Street. We’ve come a long way since then!

At the Flint Crepe Company, we really want to provide an exceptional food and beverage experience. To us, it’s clear that the way to achieve the tastiest food is by utilizing wholesome and local ingredients. Of course, everyone has heard this before, so we wanted to take this opportunity to share with you exactly what goes into a meal when you eat here. Below, we’ve taken a sample order and laid out some of those ingredient details that we feel restaurants should make more available!

Flint Crepe Co. Egg & Cheese Crepe

The Egg and Cheese is our staple brunch crepe that is very simple and satisfying.

Our batter is made in-house every day with non-GMO hard red spring wheat flour from Grand Traverse Culinary Oils.

The egg on top comes from Grazing Fields, which is a multi-farm co-op that gets eggs from farmers across Michigan. The chickens are out on pasture during warm months and given non-GMO feed during colder months.

The cheddar cheese is from Farm Country Cheese in Lakeview, Michigan. The milk is provided by surrounding Amish communities whose cows are grass-fed and free of antibiotics and hormones.

This crepe also gives you the option to add greens. We use a variety of the following organic, locally grown greens from farmers across the state: mizuna, tatsoi, kale, arugula, spinach, leafy lettuce, microgreens, and more.

Our Chai Latte

We’ve spent hours perfecting our take on the Chai Latte.

The milk we use comes from Calder Brother’s Dairy in Lincoln Park, MI. Their cows eat on pasture whenever the grass is available. The milk is non-homogenized, so all the delicious cream is left in! It is also vat pasteurized, which means it is heated only to the minimum required temperature so that the milk retains its natural enzymes and beneficial bacteria.

Our house-made chai syrup uses Rishi black tea and a variety of spices from Mountain Rose Herbs, including sweet cinnamon and cassia sticks, whole peppercorns, cloves, ginger root, cacao nibs, cardamom pods, allspice, and salt.

Must-Try: Mocha a la Mode Crepe

The Mocha a la Mode Crepe is a menage au trois of coffee, chocolate, and ice cream. (See photo above)

Our coffee beans are honey processed, 100% sun-dried, and directly traded with Cafe Rivense, a fourth-generation family farm and micro mill in Costa Rica. The beans are roasted at Tenacity Brewing in Flint by our sister company Heyday Coffee!

Nocciolata chocolate hazelnut spread is layered inside the crepe and topped with a scoop of Calder’s vanilla ice cream. The cacao syrup that we drizzle on top is made in-house from Mindo Chocolate Makers’ organic heirloom powdered cacao.

There you have it! We just wanted to give everyone a small glimpse of exactly what you’re supporting when you eat at the Crepe Company. Hope to see you around!
