Shop Local with Oleson’s Food Stores

Find Local Food, Retail, TLD Branding, Tricia Phelps

Many people in northwest Lower Michigan hold the Oleson family name in high-regard. For some, it’s about the gifts the Oleson Family Foundation makes to local organizations; for others, it’s the region’s five Oleson’s Food Stores. But either way, it’s clear that the Oleson family cares deeply about strengthening our community.

Over the last year, Taste the Local Difference® has added a lot of new territory to our service area. For the first time ever we are including all of northern Michigan’s food & farming community– both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas. That’s why we’ve nearly double the size of our newest publication, the 13th edition of our annual Guide to Local Food.

You can find The Guide to Local Food in Northern Michigan for FREE at select locations throughout the region. The guide is an important community resource, so let us know if you need a copy by emailing: info@localdifference.org or stop by one of the sites listed below!

Julienne Tomatoes

Christina Carson, Find Local Food, Stories, The Local Dish

Julienne Tomatoes has been serving great food featuring local ingredients since 2003, long before most downtown Petoskey restaurants were listing local producers on their menus. Owner and Chef, Julie Adams, wanted to feature as many local businesses as she could right from the start because it just made sense — supporting the people with whom you share a local community.
