Get your tickets to Growing Hope‘s Chefs in the Garden dinner on October 13! Held on the grounds of their sprawling urban farm, attendees will enjoy a multi-course meal under the hoophouse. This year, area chefs Ji Hye of Miss Kim and Brandon Johns of Grange Kitchen & Bar sponsored the events*. Much of the menus highlights locally grown produce, some of it even coming from the Growing Hope farm.
Exciting changes are coming to Taste the Local Difference this year! First, we are pleased to announce two new employees in West Michigan. Second, we will publish one statewide Local Food Guide in 2020. These changes will allow us to better serve our partners throughout the state as well as residents and tourists to Michigan.
For the last 40 years, Edson Farms Natural Food Store has served Traverse City’s natural food needs. Now the store is bigger than ever with their recent expansion project. Their increased deli and local produce section contributes to their mission of supporting their community.

More than that, we work directly with these businesses to excel and to improve Michigan’s local food economy. Our work aims to get more local food sold.
Walking through one of the six Tom’s Food Markets locations in Northwest Michigan, you will find the produce section is piled high with best of the season. During the harvest season, displays are piled high with sweet corn, pints of sweet cherries, bushels of Bardenhagen Farms apples, and local squashes.
