Farm to Butcher: Expanding Access to Heritage Michigan Meats
Farm Field Table, dubbed ‘the trusted butcher to Michigan’s Finest Chefs’ is located at 1030 Woodward Heights in Ferndale, MI. Since its inception in December of 2016, the artisan butcher shop has sourced whole meat animal and poultry from their favorite family farms throughout Michigan.
Farm Field Table is a family operation – with Matt Romine manning the Ferndale butcher shop and his twin brother, Mike running their restaurant, Mulefoot Gastropub in Imlay City MI. Additionally, Matt and Mike’s parents run their Mulefoot Farm and catering company. Mike’s wife Allison is charged with front-of-house operations at the Mulefoot.
FFT works with almost twenty Michigan farms including: Mulefoot Farm (owned and operated by the family), Schaendorf Cattle Co (Grand Rapids), Ankley Farm (Imlay City) and Sugarbush Wagyu (Allen). The Ferndale space will soon expand from 3,000 square foot to almost 6,000 square feet to accommodate their growth.
Lastly, Farm Field Table provides meat to a number of popular Detroit restaurants including The Apparatus Room at the Foundation Hotel, Ferndale’s Voyager, Chartreuse, Grey Ghost, Takoi and others. Customers can also get meat directly from the butcher shop or through their new online ordering system.
