Manistee Farmers Market

The Manistee Farmers Market has been in operation since 2002. The 2016 season is on Saturdays 8:00am-1:00pm,  May 28th through October 8th. It is located at the corner of Memorial Drive and Washington Street in Manistee.

426936_339267249443808_895676829_nIn 2015 we had a foot traffic count of 11,563 people for the season, and anticipate a greater flow of community members with increased awareness and demand for farmers market goods. We have approximately 25 vendors from Manistee and the surrounding counties that sell an array of products including fruits and vegetables, baked goods, wine, prepared hot foods, soap and body care items, pure maple syrup, honey, eggs, cheese,  art, and plants. Other non-profit vendors provide educational opportunities usually of a health, conservation and historical nature.

Manistee Home Grown Saturday features live music most of the season and has included artists such as Joshua Davis, Awesome Distraction, The Tucker Laws Band, Peace-Love-Music, and the Curtis Family Band. Our market utilises all forms of food benefits: WIC Project Fresh, Senior Market Fresh, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), to assist the food insecure families in our county to access healthier food choices.

The Manistee Farmers Market is operated and managed by the Manistee Community Kitchen 401(c)3. The purpose of the market is to promote and stimulate local economic development, to provide a community gathering place, to provide opportunity for consumers to purchase healthy farm-grown and quality artisan goods, and to foster relationships.
