Table Four2 at Home with Mawby

For the second season running, Mawby offers Table Four2, an intimate tasting experience for two guests at their beautiful Leelanau winery. Guests enjoy four wines paired with four small plates as they overlook the rolling vineyards. This personal offering is incredibly popular, even during the pandemic, and the experience is booked through the end of September. Did you miss your chance to reserve your Table Four2 experience at Mawby? You’re in luck! You can recreate the delightful experience from the comfort of your own home.

At Mawby, one of the small plates served is an elegant take on Fish and Chips and they’ve shared their recipe for making at home here. Pair this crunchy, creamy, salty snack with Mawby’s Green, a bright, bubbly tank fermented wine.

Here’s what you will need:

The Aioli recipe:

  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste ( or more to taste!)
  • 3 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 3/4 C good mayonnaise (Duke’s, for example)
  • Juice from half a lemon

Mix together and chill. This makes more than enough, will last for several weeks in the fridge. It can be used with other fish dishes ( crab cakes, grilled whitefish, salmon burgers) or served alongside grilled veggies.

Enjoy this small plate in your backyard, at the beach, or even from the couch.

Plus, feel good about stocking up on a bottle (or a case!) of Green as it serves as Mawby’s charitable giving wine – $1 from each bottle sold is donated to one of three local partners. This year, Mawby is supporting Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Arts for All, and Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center

Mawby is open seven days a week to visitors and reservations for tastings are required. If you’re not in the area, you can join their Fizz club and order their wines online to be shipped directly to your door.
