Local Pottery for Your Local Food

A quick who’s who for who’s making local food look good: these Michigan potters are making mugs that will make your local coffee taste even better, and practical dinnerware that goes seamlessly with a CSA-inspired dinner.

In Northwest Michigan:

Laura Brown of Lou Pottery in Leelanau County is making colanders that are perfect for summertime berries and her low bowls have a great organic shape that are just begging for local greens.

Sturgeon River Pottery in Petoskey makes beautiful entertaining sets, but my favorite is their apple baker for making dessert out of your Michigan apples.

In Southeast Michigan:

Katie Bramlage out of Hazel Park has “pebble” sets of small plates that are perfect for entertaining platters and food photos.

Pewabic Pottery of Detroit is the quintessential Michigan pottery to have in your home. Their Michigan-themed trivet tiles are worthy of a place of pride on the dinner table.

In Southwest Michigan:

Grayling Ceramics out of Kalamazoo, MI is a great place to shop for everyday dinnerware that will make every day feel like a special day. They also make howlers and growlers for craft beer fans.

These are just some of the folks who make beautiful Michigan table art! Who makes your favorite dinner plate? Let us know!
