Taste the Local Difference & Edible WOW announce Partnership

SOUTHEAST MICHIGAN – Taste the Local Difference®, Michigan’s local-food marketing agency, and edibleWOW, Southeastern Michigan’s seasonal local food magazine, have announced a new partnership to support the local food economy of Southeast Michigan.

Since 2006, edibleWOW Magazine has been telling the rich stories behind the Southeastern Michigan foodshed. With roots in Traverse City, Taste the Local Difference (TLD) expanded to Southeast Michigan in 2016 due to a demand for affordable marketing and promotion services in the local food sector. Together, edible WOW and Taste the Local Difference will work to help food businesses and the communities they serve, benefit from the true value of local food.

“For us, the partnership is perfectly complementary to the work we already do.” says Robb Harper, co-owner of the edibleWOW publication.”Taste the Local Difference brings great experience, resources and marketing services to the food community here in Southeast Michigan.”

Perhaps TLD’s most well-known work is a free community resource, known as the Guide to Local Food. This year will be the second edition of the TLD Guide in Southeast Michigan, and edibleWOW will play a vital partnership role in managing advertising and distribution for the 2017 publication. The annual Guide will reach more than 50,000 people and be distributed in over 300 locations across 11 counties in Southeast to Mid-Michigan.

Currently, Taste the Local Difference works with 1,476 local farm and food businesses across the state. To manage this work in southeast Michigan, TLD has hired a new regional staff person, Kelly Wilson; a registered dietitian, farmer and TLD’s new Local Food Coordinator. She will continue to grow the demand for local food in this region, and provide the additional services that TLD offers, including in-store product differentiation, consumer education, worksite wellness initiatives and more.
